• Medium-sized, full-service community hospital situated in a southern suburban area of Akron, Ohio
• Modern facility is well equipped and is undergoing major renovations with a new cardiac program which was recently completed and includes open heart surgery, state-of-the-art cath labs, and new diagnostic and rehab servies; a new cancer center followed by a new ED in the near future
• Very responsive back up maintains good rapport with the Emergency Department and represents all specialties; only major trauma, severe pediatric, and interventional cardiology cases are transferred; excellent support when needed is just minutes away at Akron Children's Hospital 
• Hospital hosts a Family Practice residency program and FP residents, rotate through the Emergency Department providing for bedside/didactic teaching and lecturing options for those with relative interest; faculty appointments available for medical students from NEOUCOM
• Respected ICU and CCU with multiple Intensivists

Emergency Department

• Efficient department has a U-shaped configuration with a central nurses station; there are 18 beds and a 10 bed Fast Track area
• Supportive, high-quality nursing staff is well-credentialed
• Lab and x-ray are located adjacent to the ED and have quick turnaround times; lab uses a tube system; ultrasound 24 hours/day (Monday-Thursday and on call weekends; CT is available 24 hours/day
• Emergency physicians do not write admitting orders or respond to codes
• Chart dictation via transcription is available 24 hours per day
• Planned renovation is underway and will provide for 26 rooms.  18 in the main ED and 8 in the fast track

• 36 hours of physician coverage per day
• 20 hours of mid level coverage per day

Located close to a rapidly growing suburban area, the hospital is actively participating in outreach to the new community. The suburban-Akron setting has an approximate population of 28,000 people and provides for easy access to the region's many amenities including the local dining and shopping of Akron and Canton. The major metropolitan attractions of Cleveland, which include a highly evolved cultural community, Indians baseball, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and the dining/night life of The Flats are about a 30-45 minute drive away. The local area boasts reasonable housing and access to neighborhoods with excellent public and parochial schools. Beautiful parks and local lakes further contribute to the high quality of life available in the area.
