EMP's Billing and Collection Procedures Impact Your Hospital's Reputation.
At EMP, we understand that our billing and collection methods affect overall patient satisfaction—not only with our services, but with your hospital, too. That's why EMP management owns and controls its own billing and collection companies. Through Medical Billing and Financial Services (MBFS), a limited liability company, we provide exceptional quality control in all aspects of medical billing. MBFS has invested in state-of-the-art technology and customer-oriented personnel to ensure we project a quality-driven image in the communities and hospitals in which we operate. MBFS operates under the philosophy:
"We believe patient care doesn’t end just because you left the hospital."
Our billing and collection technology boosts performance, efficiency and hospital-system compatibility.
Many aligned business mechanisms and technologies assure MBFS has a robust, state-of-the-art business foundation upon which they operate. Investments in GE Centricity Business Enterprise Billing Software, EMStar Electronic Medical Record Integration Software, Discus Chart Scanning Software and OnBase Document Management and Workflow Software have increased performance and allow EMP to operate in a paperless business environment. In addition, all of this software allows us to seamlessly integrate with our partner hospitals with minimal overhead and maintenance.
MBFS utilizes GE Centricity Business’ EDI Toolkit to function as their own electronic claims clearinghouse, eliminating reliance on external sources for claim submission. EDI Toolkit enables MBFS to submit claims directly to all major payers and accept electronic remittance files. This greatly reduces our “Time-to-Bill” and “Time-to-Resolution” measures, which in turn improves patient satisfaction and eliminates potential complaints.
MBFS processes over 1.9 million emergency department encounters and 400,000 hospitalist encounters per year. MBFS operates out of EMP’s national headquarters in Canton, Ohio and employs approximately 210 associates.
Compliance Program
MBFS maintains the highest standards to meet and exceed regulatory agency compliance. The MBFS Compliance Program assures coding, billing and reimbursement regulation changes are immediately incorporated into daily operations. Written procedures are maintained for all key aspects of the billing and collection process with continuous auditing, reporting, and intervention to assure superior quality.
