Emergency Department

- New, 21,000 sq. ft. ED facility completed in July 2002, which includes 13 acute care beds, a 5-bed observation area and a 6-bed fast track unit
- Dictation available 24 hours per day
- Emergency physicians do not write admitting orders
- Excellent nursing staff is predominantly ACLS, BTLS and PALS certified
- Active EMS in area with medical direction for the county based in the Carteret ED
Emergency Department Schedule
- 34-36 hours of physician coverage per day
- 8 hour shifts in the main ED & 12 hour shifts in the fast track

Morehead City is a sound-side seaport situated on the opposite bank of the Newport River from historic Beaufort.
