• Established 166-bed community hospital situated in the city of Cortland
• 80-bed skilled nursing facility also on campus
• Full service capabilities with most specialties represented; interventional cardiology, neurosurgery, and critical pediatrics are transferred
• Hospitalist service is in-house 24 hrs a day, 7 days a week
• Active Pediatric and Obstetric departments are highly regarded
• Radiology services including interventional radiology and teleradiology
• $3.6 million Emergency Department renovation completed in November 2004
• Revovations completed to Cardiology and Laboratory in July 2005

Emergency Department

• Emergency Department has state of the art configuration with nurse’s station in the center of the ED with a radiology suite and PAC system located directly in the ED
• Broad mix of patient pathology includes blunt trauma
• Full complement of monitored beds includes “floating” telemetry system
• 24-hour chart dictation via in-house transcription
• Scribe documentation and flow tech program in operation as of Decenber 2005
• Stroke Telemedicine
• Equipment includes EZ-IO and Fiber Optic Laryngoscope
• Emergency physician bedside ultrasound 
• Emergency physicians do not write admitting orders

Emergency Department Schedule

• 7, 8, and 10 hour emergency department shifts
• 25 hour physician coverage
• Designated physician for Physician In Triage Program, 9 hours on weekdays; 12 on weekends

Cortland is a beautiful town with an approximate population of 20,000 people and is situated in the desirable Finger Lakes region of south central New York about 30 miles south of Syracuse.
