Dr. Donald Norris is the ED Medical Director at Genesys Regional Medical Center. He had been the Assistant Director of the ED at Genesys and the Assistant Medical Director for the EMP Firefighters Program. He is a graduate of EMP's prestigious Scholars Program.
Dr. Norris received his undergraduate training at West Virginia University in Morgantown, WV, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Biology. He received his medical degree from Marshall University School of Medicine in Huntington, WV. Dr. Norris completed his emergency medicine residency at East Carolina University, Brody School of Medicine in Greenville, NC, where he served as Chief Resident.
After completing residency in 2003, Dr. Norris worked as an attending physician at The Ohio State University in Columbus OH. During his time at Ohio State, Dr. Norris served as Director of Procedural Competency and, eventually, Assistant Residency Director. He was awarded Teacher of the Year by the emergency medicine residents in 2010. Dr. Norris is a 2010 graduate of the American College of Emergency Physician's Teaching Fellowship, and currently serves as an oral board examiner for the American Board of Emergency Medicine.
Dr. Norris is board certified in Emergency Medicine, and is a member of the American College of Emergency Physicians and the American Academy of Emergency Medicine.
