Dr. Gregory Smolin named Emergency Physician of the Year

Gregory Smolin, DO, FACEP was recently awarded PaACEP's 11th Annual Emergency Physician of the Year Award at the Annual Meeting in Pittsburgh, chosen from physicians from the entire state of Pennsylvania. Dr. Smolin serves as Director of the Department of Emergency Medicine at Memorial Hospital in York, Pennsylvania. A dedicated clinician, Dr. Smolin has trained and mentored residents for over twenty years. His efforts improve and promote quality patient care and he has been recognized in the community with a local news article entitled "Extraordinary Physician." His implementation of the "Physician in Triage" at Memorial Hospital recieved a Central Penn Business Journal Operations / Technology in the ED "Innovation Award."

Dr. Smolin has also just been named to a 3-year term to the PaACEP Board of Directors.

Prior to joining EMP, Dr. Smolin served as both Associate Director and Director of the Department of Emergency Medicine at Memorial Hospital where he is an attending Emergency Physician. He is a Clinical Instructor in the Emergency Medicine Residency Program at Memorial Hospital. He was founder and managing partner of Memorial Emergency Medicine Associates, P.C. He has served as President of the Medical Staff for Memorial Hospital and served six years on their Board of Directors.

Dr. Smolin received his Doctor of Osteopathy from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He completed his undergraduate studies at Lafayette College in Easton, Pennsylvania where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology and Sociology. He completed a Rotating Internship and his Emergency Medicine Residency at Memorial Hospital in York, Pennsylvania.

Dr. Smolin is board certified in Emergency Medicine and is a fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians and the American College of Osteopathic Emergency Physicians. He is certified and is an instructor in Pediatric Advanced Life Support and Advanced Cardiac Life Support. He is certified in Advanced Trauma Life Support.
