EMP's Proactive Risk Management Program
EMP's Risk Management program is designed to identify medicolegal risks before they become medicolegal disasters. EMP provides physicians with proactive expert advice and education on ways to minimize risk in everyday emergency medical malpractice.
Since even the best risk management programs and the most compliant risk management behaviors may not be able to prevent all lawsuits, EMP’s Risk Management program is prepared to manage lawsuits against its physicians. This system assures that EMP physicians receive support and guidance if they become the target of a lawsuit. To ensure the opportunity for a successful outcome is maximized and that physician’s defenses are vigorously pursued, EMP owns and operates its own malpractice insurance carrier to assure EMP physicians are provided with the services of experienced defense attorneys. This service is only available to our physicians and mid-level providers.
In fact, EMP physicians own and manage our malpractice insurance company, and every full-time equity owner physician has an equal share. In this way, all EMP physicians financially benefit from our excellent claims experience and state-of-the-art risk management. No other Emergency Medicine group exists where the physicians actually own their insurance company.
The result is streamlined communications between the insurance provider, Risk Management Department, EMP physicians and partner hospitals for higher quality patient care, reduced risk and decreased medical malpractice claims.
