- The 339-bed community hospital situated in a suburb of Cleveland, Ohio has been serving the community since 1961

Emergency Department
- New ED opened July 2003 provides 44 beds in 24,000 square feet
- Patient acuity provides for an admission rate of 22-23% which makes up approximately 60% of total hospital admissions
- Patient mix includes mostly medical cases with some minor industrial trauma
- A-4 Healthmatics computer system provides computerized charting, patient tracking and dictation
- Emergency physicians do not write admitting orders or respond to floor codes
- Active paramedic training program and active EMS program
- Medical Control Center for 7 cities. Selected squads with the ability to start doing 12 lead EKG’s in the field and our EMS director is working with other squads to bring them on-board as soon as feasible.
- Hospital hosted teleradiology provides for 24 hour radiology coverage
- Small pediatric unit on site; complex pediatric cases sent to Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital.
- Agreements in place for transfers of major trauma to Metrohealth Hospital
- Agreements in place for transfers of pediatric trauma to Rainbow Babies Hospital
- Solid attending back up- very supportive
- New Vocera communication devices department wide.
- Also implementing wireless hand-held laptop Computerized Physician Order Entry and documentation
- HMG Hospitalists Program handles admission, consults and staffs a Rapid Response Team
Emergency Department Schedule
- 8 and 9 hour shifts with coverage to provide for 2.3-2.5 patients per physician hour.
- Physician In Triage model 10 hrs per day
- 2 Full Time night doctors
- 18 hours per day of PA coverage
