What is the most beautiful thing you have ever seen?
My kids being born.
What's your favorite thing to do in the summer?
Hammering single-track on my mountain bike.
If you could have an endless supply of any food, what would it be?
Peanut butter and jelly.
When do you sense being most alive and why?
Shredding powder in the trees on telemark skis. This is self-explanatory.
What person has been the biggest influence in your life?
My father, an endocrinologist, is my role model. He has taught me integrity, complassion, and to strive for excellence.
Dr. Steven Shane serves as Site Director and Quality Director at St. Rose Dominican Hospitals - Siena Campus, Pediatric Emergency Department. He has been with EMP Partners since 2007. Dr. Shane is board certified in pediatric emergency medicine and is a fellow in the American Academy of Pediatrics, as well as a member of the Society of Critical Care Medicine.
Dr. Shane received his medical degree from the West Virginia University School of Medicine in Morgantown, West Virginia. He received a Master of Science in Clinical Research Design and Statistical Analysis from the University of Michigan School of Public Health in Ann Arbor, Michigan while on faculty there. He completed his pediatric residency and fellowship in pediatric emergency medicine at the Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
When Dr. Shane is not working, he enjoys road and mountain biking, telemark skiing, hiking, camping, traveling, and spending time with his family: wife Theresa and children Sienna and Blake. He is a volunteer with the Nevada Archaeological Site Stewardship Program. Dr. Shane recently took the EMsono ultrasound course and now routinely uses ultrasound in his practice. Lastly, he started blowing on his alto sax after not playing for 15 years!
