Thank you to all who participated in the first annual EMP "Best in Emergency Medicine" Video Challenge. Ultimately the contest was a success because of the participants who took the time and effort to support their EM residency program.
Our attempt was to provide an entertaining venue for Residents to spotlight their programs. This we feel was a great success, with many submissions that showed a lot of effort. The unfortunate element of the contest was the attempt to submit fraudulent votes. The challenge for EMP is to determine a winner based on the best knowledge we have available and provide an outcome that we hope will be satisfactory and beneficial to all involved. To that end we are invoking the clause, as stated in the official rules, to modify the contest and determine award winners at our discretion. Due to the amount of work involved in sorting the actual votes and making those decisions we are delaying the announcement of the award winners until Monday, Feb. 15, 2010.
In an effort to find a resolution to this contest that is satisfactory to everyone, EMP is making every effort to be equitable. In that regard we are increasing what originally was a total of $18,500 in awards to over $30,000 in prizes and awards. Please stay tuned for the announcement of the award winners.
Encouraged by the participation, EMP will once again be conducting the "Best in Emergency Medicine" Video Challenge later this year, so please begin planning now and spread the word in your program to enter again for 2010!
